ABBI HUNT

Right now Kaysville needs:

- Responsible growth
- Reliable infrastructure/ Public safety
- Transparency
- Fiscal responsibility

I am committed to listening to Kaysville residents, and working with them on these goals.

What drives me:

Family

As I have met with community members this spring and summer, I have found that most people moved to Kaysville for the family community and small-town feel. I am choosing to raise my family here for those same reasons! Kaysville is the kind of place where you can safely raise a family, and I want to keep it that way. Public safety is key. I support our police officers, and I support our public works department. I will prioritize our public safety and infrastructure to keep Kaysville safe for families now and in the future.

Community

I chose the “running the extra mile for you” slogan because I am a runner, but also because running the extra mile reflects the work I have done in the community and will continue to do as a city councilmemeber. I will be the kind of representative that will get to the bottom of difficult questions and issues for you. If you have a question I will find the answer, and I will work hard to listen and make compromises so that your voice is heard!

Planning

I’ve been on the planning commission for almost two years. I have helped make decision on conditional-use permits, zoning changes, and have worked to update the general plan. In every instance, I looked at the proposed change and made sure that the impacts were as low as possible, people’s property rights were respected, and there was a benefit to Kaysville. I’ve learned that if we are going to keep the Kaysville we love while meeting the demands of the future we need to plan intelligently. Many parents worry their children will not be able to afford housing near them. While we can’t solve the housing crisis by ourselves, we can grow while honoring our small-town principles.
